The all-new Honda Accord could soon make its way to the Philippines.

After making a regional preview last year at the 2018 Thailand International Motor Expo, the tenth-generation Accord has officially been launched in Thailand. It features a dramatic redesign inside and out, along with new powertrain options that include a turbocharged engine and an efficient hybrid system.

Borrowing styling cues from the current-generation Civic, the new Accord comes with a sportier, coupe-like look. It has a bolder 'Solid Wing Face' front grill that is paired to a sleek set of LED headlights. Then there's the sharp C-shaped taillights at the back which add to the car's already eye-catching looks. A choice of either 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels are also available on the Accord, depending on the model.

Just like the exterior, Honda was also busy making the interior of the D-segment sedan sleeker and more refined. It now has a wraparound dashboard design, a bigger floating infotainment display, a new three-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters, wireless phone charging, new multi-info display and gauges, and a revised center stack and console.

Under the hood, the all-new Accord is available with either a turbocharged inline-four or a hybrid powertrain. First up is the 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo derived from the FC Civic. It produces 190 PS along with a generous 243 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the hybrid has a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four with two electric motors, resulting in a total system output of 215 PS. Serving as the sole transmission option for the both the turbo and hybrid is a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

A plethora of active and passive safety systems are available on the Thai-spec Accord. These include front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree around-view system, reverse camera with rear cross traffic monitor, and automatic parking assist. In addition, the Accord can be equipped with Honda Sensing which gives the sedan additional safety kit like collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beam function.

With The Land of Smiles already getting their hands on the Accord, it won't be long until the next-gen sedan makes its way to the Philippines. While the hybrid variant will unlikely make it to the country, the turbocharged Accord could be the one offered here when it officially arrives.
