There are perhaps only a select number of cars in the world today that have gained fame (or infamy) for having too funky an exterior design.
One of the most notable of all is the Nissan Juke. In its first generation, the crossover had a 'love it or loathe it' look that made it stand out from the rest of its competitors. But despite its unconventional looks, the Juke had developed a cult-like status among car buyers for being a practical and cool every day runaround.
This coming September 3 however, be prepared to see an all-new Juke hit the streets. Following a teaser last July, Nissan recently released new photos of the funky crossover albeit wearing light camouflage. Taken at the Milbrook test track in the UK, the camouflaged Juke looks a lot different and appears to be a bit bigger too.
According to Nissan, the new-generation Juke was penned in Europe by a team of designers across the region. Without going much into details, Nissan said that it will have 'sleek coupe lines, striking 19-inch alloy wheels, and a new athletic stance that will set a new standard in compact crossover design'. The automaker even went on to say that it will be the third model in the Nissan lineup to come with ProPilot technology, a key feature under the company's Intelligent Mobility vision.
However, we did not see the cool Y-shaped headlights from the original teaser. Instead, Nissan appears to have covered them up in order to keep up with the suspense as September draws closer.
As for its size, Nissan mentioned that it has slightly grown in size in order to provide a roomier cabin, and better riding comfort without compromising its agility. No details about its engines were revealed although we won't be surprised if it will come available with downsized, turbocharged engines. Nissan's electric e-Power tech could also make its way in the all-new Juke.
With its global unveiling set in the coming weeks, we hope that Nissan Philippines Inc (NPI) will be able to bring it here as soon as possible.
