At the upcoming 2019 Geneva International Motor Show this March, Mitsubishi is set to debut a new concept car called the Engelberg Tourer. The mysterious all-electric SUV concept will make its world premiere along side the 2020 ASX’s public debut and the L200’s (Triton/Strada) European debut. Now just a few weeks before the show opens, Mitsubishi has released another teaser photo of the Engelberg Tourer, giving us a somewhat clearer idea as to what the concept will look like.
Previously, Mitsubishi only revealed the front of the Engelberg Tourer showing us a face derived from the brand’s current design language. Much like the Xpander and new Strada/Triton, the all-electric SUV concept will have a two-tier headlight design with the Dynamic Shield front grill. We suspect that the upper part of the headlights will be LED daytime running lights with the headlights and fog lights situated on the bumper.
The newly released teaser photo shows us the Engelberg Tourer’s side profile albeit with most of the details darkened. That said, we do see that the all-electric SUV sort of resembles the current-generation Montero Sport’s shape. The size of the electric SUV looks almost similar to the Mitsubishi's popular SUV as well. Unlike the Montero Sport’s vertical taillights though, the concept appears to have horizontal wraparound taillights instead.
By brightening the photo as seen above, the concept appears to have a strong character line that runs from the taillights to a trim piece on the front door. It also shows that the electric SUV will have a tall ride height. Other details include a cargo tray fitted on the roof together with a roof spoiler.
Unfortunately, Mitsubishi did not release any new details regarding the Engelberg Tourer along with the new photo. This means we will have to wait until the Geneva Motor Show to know the full details about this concept, and whether or not it will become Mitsubishi’s future production electric vehicle.
