It's amazing to see that crossovers of today aren't just for practicality, they can satisfy performance cravings too. We have boosted crossovers, V8-powered ones too. These days, there are crossovers that can bait sports cars. The latest potent crossover hails from Jaguar, and they believe that their offering will let you have your cake and eat it.

Dubbed the F-Pace 300 Sport, there are two powertrain options to choose from, namely turbocharged gas and diesel. For us, it's the diesel that's caught our attention.

The Jaguar F-Pace 300 Sport diesel uses a 3.0-liter V6. And while 300 PS seems pedestrian in the world of performance crossovers, it doles out a stump pulling torque figure of 700 Nm. To put that into perspective, that's 300 Nm more than its gas-fed counterpart, and in the ballpark of high-end muscle cars. The result of that is a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.4 seconds, all the way to an electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h. Those figures also make it the fastest diesel F-Pace available today. On top of that, the hot diesel can even return up to 18 kilometers per liter.

But for those who still prefer gas power, the other option is a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, also making 300 PS. As mentioned, it's down on torque compared to the diesel, but 400 Nm of torque is still a hefty amount nonetheless. Despite that, the gas-fed F-Pace 300 Sport is actually slightly faster than the diesel, hitting the century mark from a standstill in 6.1 seconds. If you're curious about fuel consumption, Jaguar says it can do up to 15.4 kilometers per liter, provided that you're gentle on the throttle, that is.

As for exterior upgrades, both the gas and turbodiesel 300 Sport editions get glossy dark gray trim pieces. These are seen on the front grille surround, this extends to the side window surrounds, side vents, mirror caps, and door finishers. It then rides on unique five-spoke alloys wrapped with meaty tires.

Inside, there's yellow contrast stitching on the instrument panel, center console and leather seats provide a unique feel to the interior. The 300 Sport logo is badged on the treadplates, carpet mats and steering wheel and is also embossed on the front headrests.
