The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has released a traffic rerouting scheme for this year's State of the Nation address. Given that it will be held at the Sandiganbayan, sections of Commonwealth Avenue will be closed off to motorists.
The Quezon City Police District will be closing parts of the major thoroughfare by 12:00 midnight, Monday, July 23. This will be done for security measures, as well as making way for the protesters which, the QCPD says, will arrive at about 2:00 PM. The QCPD and MMDA advise the public to stay home during the SONA, but for those who need to travel, the traffic scheme is as stated below.
For those coming from Fairview and headed southbound, motorists are advised to turn right to Fairlane St., right to Dahlia Avenue, left to Lilac St. or Chestnut, right to Republic Avenue, Don Gregorio Road, Old Sauyo to Mindanao Avenue. Another alternate route is by turning right at Regalado Avenue, right at Republic Avenue, Don Gregorio Road, Old Sauyo Road to Mindanao Avenue. It is recommended to take the same round for those heading to Fairview and Novaliches.
Motorists headed eastbound are to take the Quezon City Memorial Circle and take Visayas Avenue. From there, make a right turn to Mindanao Avenue, then turn right towards Old Sauyo or Quirino Highway. Others may opt to take North Avenue instead and, from there, and turn right heading to Old Sauyo or Quirino Highway.
