After giving the BRZ and the Levorg the STI Sport package, Subaru has now applied the same treatment to the WRX S4. Officially called the WRX S4 STI Sport, it is set to be the new range topper once it debuts on September 21. Don't be confused though, the WRX S4 STI Sport is still a WRX and is not an actual WRX STI.
Similar to the upgrades added on the earlier previous STI Sport models, the improvements brought about by the package to the WRX S4 focused mainly on handling as well as some exterior bits and pieces. The WRX S4 STI Sport rides on new Bilstein DampMatic II suspension which is tuned by STI. Subaru says that it improves driving handling and combines it with supple ride comfort.
Visually, the WRX S4 STI Sports gets unique exterior touches such as a new gloss black grill with an STI badge, an STI badge on the trunk, and blackened STI fender badges. More gloss black paint has been applied to the rest of the exterior such as the sharkfin antenna, side mirror covers, and the new lip spoiler. Completing the exterior makeover is the new set of 18-inch multispoke wheels which are wrapped in 245/40 profile tires.
Step inside, and there are more upgrades to be found. For starters, the seats are now Recaro units which are upholsterd in Bordeaux leather and swede. Dark red leather was then added to the center console to compliment the new seats. A new leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching was also added. To signify it being an STI Sport model, there are more STI logos visible inside the cabin such as the headrest, gauge cluster, and multi-info display.
The engine is stil the same as the one in the regular WRX S4, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer flat four which produces 300 PS and 400 Nm of torque combined with a lineartronic CVT sending power to all-four wheels.
