It looks like the cat is pretty much out of the bag for Toyota's next-generation 2020 Hiace people carrier.

Yesterday renders of what appeared to be the all-new Toyota Hiace H300 were released onto the web. No longer sporting a cab-over design, it looks like the new Hiace will now come with a hood (presumably with the engine now placed at the front), as well as a more elegant exterior design.

Now, images of what could be the real thing has made its way to the internet once more. Taken by J. Club Legance, a shop that specializes in customizing Hiace vans in Japan, the new people carrier reflects the design of the renders. The flat-nosed design of before is no more as it now comes with a hood, bigger headlights, new foglights, and a huge front grill.

It also gets larger side windows, a more steeply raked windshield for what we presume to be improved aerodynamics and more prominent wheel arches. Also, upon closer inspection, the sliding door from the current generation appears to have been carried over to the all-new model. The rear, on the other hand still comes with vertical taillights, albeit featuring some design tweaks.

The design is not too far off from the spy shots we gathered last November 2018. As to why Toyota changed the front end of the Hiace, it might have been done in order to meet more stringent crash test regulations.

The sixth-generation Hiace is expected to make its official debut soon in Japan.
