In Thailand, pickup trucks are one of the most popular platforms to modify. Unlike here in the Philippines where most pickups are often modified for off-road use, the trucks in Thailand are usually lowered and fitted with grippy tires. They also fit performance parts such as carbon fiber panels and upgraded turbos to make them go faster.
The Thai truck scene seems to be such a big trend, that even manufacturers are building their very own drag diesel pickup trucks. At this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS), Toyota Motor Thailand had the modified Hilux Revo Z Black Mamba as one of the highlights of their display.
Based on a standard Hilux Revo Z, the pickup was built in collaboration with in Thailand. It features a number of modifications to make it look ready for the race track or drag strip. The most obvious changes would be the carbon fiber panels found all around the truck such as the vented hood, tailgate, and spoiler. PSP Shop also added a carbon fiber splitter and carbon fiber side mirrors. Completing the exterior makeover are a set of Cosmis Racing wheels wrapped in sticky tires and new suspension to lower the truck.
Inside, there are more carbon fiber goodies. The stock seats have been replaced by PSP Shop branded carbon fiber seats together with a 4-point harness. The steering wheel has also been replaced by a PSP-branded unit as well as the titanium shift knob.
No details were revealed about the Hilux Black Mamba’s engine, but from the interior photo, we do know it is an automatic.
For those who want to make their own Hilux look like the Black Mamba, PSP Shop is actually selling the parts carbon fiber parts individually or as a package. They even offer boost-up and ECU tuning services as well to give the Hilux more power.
Now, given the opportunity, how would you modify your Hilux to look like the Black Mamba?
