Provincial buses not allowed along EDSA Cubao to Pasay during rush hour
In a bid to decongest EDSA, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), along with the Metro Manila Council, has announced that they will be restricting provincial buses plying along EDSA. These agencies said that the restriction aims to ease congestion along the major thoroughfare, which is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
Provincial buses are not allowed along EDSA starting from Cubao, all the way to Pasay. The travel ban on these buses apply from Monday to Friday from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM., and again on 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The Metro Manila Council estimates that EDSA will be freed of about 2,000 provincial buses during those times. However, those coming from the South via provincial bus will have to be dropped off at the Southwest Integrated Provincial Terminal in Pasay City. From there, they may be picked up by their transportation of choice or by other forms of public transport that is allowed along EDSA. Provincial buses can still travel along Quezon Avenue and North Avenue to reach the North Luzon Expressway during the restriction, at least for now.
Besides that, the MMDA has given motorists a heads up regarding congestion along EDSA-Shaw Boulevard starting July 7 due to emergency repairs for drainage leakages. There will also be road works along A. Bonifacio for a drainage enhancement project, along with the continuous construction of elevated sections of the MRT 7 starting today, July 2, 2018.
